I’ve been hunting since I could hold a gun and with my father as a Vietnam veteran I was taught from that very young age about the extreme importance of gun safety.
Simply put, I remember getting my ass kicked for running through the house with my B.B. gun and not being able to shoot for a couple weeks. All I need to do was walk with the barrel up, unloaded and safety on. Simple right??
Here in lies the problem. Even with age and our experience we can become complacent and too relaxed with our shotguns or boat motors etc. BE THAT GUY that asks if everyone has their safety on or barrels are up. I have a habit of listening for everyone gun that’s in my boat and the sound of the safety button going on after birds don’t work right or after reloading. Accidents can happen and NO friend or fellow hunter should ever get mad about you being to safe or expressing concern about a safety issue. Because at the end of the day we all have families waiting at home and another fun adventure to be had!
